COMPOSER and musicologist
Walkabout is a movement-based work for choir and audience participants in which singers and community members walk large concentric circles staked out with colorful ribbon and bamboo poles. Singers read their parts from notation on each pole as they pass, making the structure of the work deeply tied to its physical geometry. Community participants each are given a percussive instrument and a particular signal to trigger it, such as passing a blue ribbon. Together, all performers create a rich percussive and vocal texture in this inclusive, participatory work. Walkabout was premiered at Summertime By George Music Festival in St. Cloud, MN in July 2014.
